The MS Fridtjof Nansen, named after a Norwegian Arctic pioneer, will be the greenest cruise ship ever to be her sister ship, MS Roald Amundsen. The ship will be delivered in June 2019. The ship is named after the influential Norwegian Arctic pioneer from the time the shipping company started offering adventurous journeys. It is the second cruise ship in the world that is powered by hybrid battery technology. The hybrid engines will significantly reduce fuel consumption and ensure that it can sail completely emission-free for a period of time. The new expedition ship (265 cabins for 530 passengers) was designed by Rolls Royce.
